Call threatening lawsuit. Looking to get a social security number. Must have been from the Bangalore suburb of Austin, could barely understand the caller through the thick Indian accent.
I got a voicemail, when I called back they actually claimed to be the IRS itself. An error has been found on your tax forms and you are headed to jail yet today for tax fraud unless you wire them the money today. The scam is to get you to send them money directly, not just to get your SSN. When I asked them to give me my SSN, and the year of the tax form they were calling about, they hung up instantly.
I got a voicemail from a man claiming to be a policeman and that a warrant was out for my arrest. Could barely understand him on the message. When I called the number, the women identified herself as Jessica Jones an IRS agent, claiming they did an audit on my taxes for the past five years and that I owed $2976. When I asked for specific tax info they hung up.
