Unfortunately, from what I understand, the calls originate overseas. The IRS and law officials can do very little to stop it. With free WiFi being everywhere, the call could be coming from anywhere and just about impossible to track. I hope that one of the many law agencies are tracking the activity and contacting the originating countries and are working to shut down the scammers.
SCAM tried to personnel information! Getting these calls from various area codes. Asked person claiming to be irs agent to do something good instead of trying to figure out how to take advantage of people!
The automated voice said this was the final attempt to contact me (the only attempt I've ever received) and that the IRS is filling a suit against me. I'm suppose to call back. NEVER!!!
