I got two calls this morning. An automated call saying that my Visa debit card from Olin Community Credit Union has been suspended--call the Security Dept @ 515 414 2534. Called Olin instead @ (618) 258-3168 and got an automated message that they know about it.
I got a message from this number stating they are with credit card security and the card has been suspended. I called back to test and there was no customer support, only automated asking for the credit card number. I did not put in my number, so I don't know what the next steps would have been.
Message on several phones at a business office was automated
female voice saying that the call was from Olin Credit Union and your Visa debit card has been suspended - call security at 515-414-2534.
I called the number and was instructed to enter my (16) digit card number. After entering a ficticious number, I was instructed to enter the (4) digit expiration code and (4) digit Pin number. After confirming that the phony numbers I gave were correct, I was instructed to "Please wait while you account is activated". After a short pause, I was informed that my account has been activated!
Don't give them your credit card number! I got the same call this morning-it is a scam! I called the bank and they said they have gotten many calls from customers reporting it. I don't even have an account at that bank!
I got this call this morning. I haven't had any luck contacting my bank through legit numbers yet but this appears to be a widespread scam.
I was told that my account had been suspended pending an investigation and that I needed to call that number and enter in my information.
I've had my account frozen once before and when they called they included my name and contact information and a confirmation number for a 1-800 number to verify.
I don't trust this at all and won't be calling it.
