My husband just got a text from this number about a tablet he has listed on craigslist. We thought it was odd that this out of state # was texting us. I googled it to find out what state it was from and this site popped up. Just for the heck of it I entered the full number and luckily came up on this thread. My husband told the guy not to text him anymore.
1) If you're suspicious, there's a reason. Trust your instincts.
2) Poor English. Typing in shorthand is one thing, but if your buyer seems barely able to put a sentence together, run!
3) The buyer is "away". He/she is "overseas" "at sea" "out of town on business". If your buyer is currently not where they claim to live, be highly suspicious.
4) Unable to use a phone. If your buyer claims to be unable to make contact with you via phone (they claim to be deaf or at some remote outpost like an oil rig, ship, etc.) be highly suspicious.
5) They offer more than the selling price. If your buyer offers to send you more than the selling price to cover shipping or as "a gift to you", run!
6) Insisting on PayPal or Western Union. If your buyer insists that the transaction be done with PayPal but they need your info first, or if they insist on some kind of return via Western Union, run!
I had the same problem he said his name is Sharon and lives in tn he wanted to buy a phone from me. I told him I still have the device and when I Relized it was a scam I told him! Now he keeps sending me threats that I will regret this etf stay away!
Same as above. I live in Grand Rapids, MI and he tried to scam me on a cell phone. Wanted to send to Nigeria.
Love this site! I put every scam number I get off Craigslist.
First it was e-mails and now they have graduated to text messaging.
This number just texted me asking about an iPod Touch I had for sale on craigslist.com.
I thought it was odd that he had broken english so I googled the number and wouldn't you kow it, I find this thread.
