Received an automatic message that the IRS was suing me. Since I was confident my taxes for last year were paid up. I knew it was a fraudulent call. Will not follow up with them,
Female robo-voice, with less that perfect English syntax, said, "Hello. We have been trying to reach you. This automated message should be considered as a final notice from IRS, Internal Revenue Service. The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on 202 239-8650. I repeat, 202 239-8650. Thank you."
They're back. Call display read 1-516-746-9209. The heavily Indian accented man claimed to be an authorized Windows support department calling in response to error messages being sent from my genuine Windows software to their support team. They wanted to confirm my 'windows software'... i said windows 3.1 :)
They wanted to tell me that this is the company that makes Windows... I said, like Microsoft? they said no... motherchod :) [look that one up in hindi haha]
They wanted to help 'clean' my computer by accessing my event viewer logs... I said I don't have my computer turned on but I'll type their instructions anyway on a disconnected keyboard with the computer turned off :) they had no problem with continuing with the online "help".
They offered a callback number at 1 800-815-7028 and 1800-815-7929. I asked if these are help lines associated with Microsoft.. he said that Windows is not Microsoft software... :)
They wanted to examine ip addresses and passwords so I passed my phone to my 4 year old kid to talk gibberish to them.
Hopefully, my kid burned up some of these scammer's long distance charges.
Early morning pre daylight call . No one would answer when picked up. Do not appreciate this kind of behaviour, especially, at this time of the day and into a household with serious illness.
I received a call from this number. I didn't pick up because I get so many junk calls. They actually left a cut off message saying they're filing a lawsuit against us and we should return call ASAP. Nah, I don't think so! Caller ID showed the call was from NY.
