Got the same phone call as everyone else. Ask for a notirzed copy of loan agreement they laughed at me and said I'll see you in court. I hope I do see them in court they have nothing for what I'm going to do to them
A Mr. Barry Stone called my house and told me that I owed money on a pay day loan which I took out in 2012, I never took out a pay day loan in 2012, I was not told an amount, but I told him to mail me any information to me in the mail, he took my information and is suppose to mail out the information to me.
Received a voice-message from a Brian Stone saying his office received an affidavit containing my name and SSN and that it is imperative I or my legal counsel contact him asap. Failure to return the call would result in his office making a decision on my behalf. I don't think this is legit. I've not received a letter about this and the guy had my last name wrong.
Not legit, not at all. Best not to talk to these jerks, they will just keep calling. Make a decision on his behalf, ignore and block the calls.
btw - That name, "Brian Stone"? I have seen it used 8-10 times this week, associated with other phone numbers, this is a sign of a reasonably large phony debt collector is working the phones, and working hard. Such a nice trustworthy name, isn't it? If the call was least legit, you would called by a Narodni Podnik or some such. Good Luck!
I got a call today claiming I got a payday loan in 2010 ( Which I never did, would never in my life get one of those loan). Anyways, He had my SSN and old name listed on my phone bill. He would not give me a current address nor an amount I "owed". I called back and Brain answered I asked for an address and gave me a PO BOX in Lockport, NY, but they are located in Morris-town, NY which is 4 hours away. Call again and Sharon Matthews answered tried to get information out of him. This person would not give me information because of laws in place which is total BS. I told him that the FBI was tracing this call and it was a google number. He then laughed and said have fun. I then call again and tried to get a direct number and gave me 844-869-8462. Then questioned him again of his location and said Morris-town and Lockport are in the same area and they are not. Do not give any information. He then told me if I could to call in again he would press harassment charges and I said go head. He said he has a docket with my name and I asked the location of this Payday loan company and could not provide me with that. He said it not on the docket which is total BS. Any docket that gets on an attorney's desk has all information. I called a few more time and they kept getting more rude which a lot of law firms would not get rude. Do not fall for this scam.
Yep.
my husband just forwarded me a voicemail, same message! He had the first name, but diffferent last name. I guess if you/we were to file a police report, and somehow get to that person, they could always say it was a case of mistaken identity. They were calling someone else, right?
And if we were to call them back, they would need full name, date of birth, ss number ...
