The avalanche of calls occur 12 hours a day, the day after we set up new service with Century Link. Despite having a Non-Pub and Unlisted number. Despite arranging for Century Link to enable the *60 Call Rejection feature, the recording message says we don't have that feature.
The telemarketers, calling themselves "Home Security Promotion" refuse to remove our number from their dialer despite numerous attempts ordering them to do it and assurances that they would. FTC/FCC and State Atty General is next I guess.
This is a robo caller feeding valid numbers to a company claiming to be USA Security (Not on the internet) selling alarm monitoring with a free install (very typical in the home alarm industry). They claim to install a product from GE Security Systems. The monitoring fee they are asking for is $49.99 a month (very high price in the industry).
The process goes like this:
1. Robo caller verifies someone will answer the phone
2. Another Robo Caller from a number with 'Unknown' caller ID calls you again.
3. The automated phone call may seem like a live person but is not. This is used to pre-qualify that you are interested in a home security system with questions like: 'Are you the home owner'?
4. 'Qualified' calls are forwarded to an agent like: Sam Lopez (The conversation is very poor, almost like the robot but it's just someone with poor communication skills and a poor phone connection)
5. They will make a half hearted attempt to sell you.
I didn't listen any further, it may not be legit and may be a scam. No web site to verify the USA Secutrity claim, so stay away!!!
Received a call from someone that did not identify themselves on a Government work phone. I had to interrupt the guy twice in order to let him know that he was not calling a "home" number but instead a Gov number. He said he knew and kept on. I interuppted again and said "If you know, then you know not to call this type of number". I then hung up on the idiot.
