Do you think that actually works? I suspect that is the equivalent of saying "Hey guys, this is indeed a working number." I was very lucky for about 8 years. I didn't get ANY junk calls. And a few months ago a deluge of them started. At first I thought they were all IRS scams and would stop after April 15, but while they have slowed they haven't stopped.
Somebody - probably Comcast since they're the most crooked organization who has my phone number (no longer a customer thank god) - sold them my number.
And the thing is, every junk call I get is from a different number even when they do leave a message, which is rare. I suspect most if not all of them are spoofed anyway.
These people don't care. They've got a list of phone numbers and some robocalling software set up that just calls and calls and calls until they hook someone with their bait. They aren't particularly interested in scrubbing their lists. That would be more trouble than to continue to cast as wide a net as possible.
You'll probably never be called from this particular number again, but neither will I. Instead we'll be called with a different number spoofed and it might even be these same scammers.
