Claiming to be investigator about fraud case, threatening voicemail about jail and suspending license. Tried to get bank info and if not paid by Thursday noon about jail and a family member would have to bring half of money! I called police about this!
That something from 5 years ago came up an i have until 2pm today october 9 2013 to pay or im going to jail i offered to pay i just didnt have that much money single mom an struggling
Debt is civil, not criminal, so you are NOT going to be arrested. It is also a violation of federal law to threaten someone with jail for allegedly failing to pay a debt.
Per the Federal Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) - any caller who refuses to MAIL you proof that the debt is yours, and that they can legally collect said debt - is owed NOTHING! Report the caller to the FTC, the FBI and your state's Attorney General. If the caller harasses you again, let him/her know that you're recording all calls made to you to give to your own attorney for a lawsuit for multiple violations of the FDCPA (even if you don't have an attorney).
I was just called from a company named WSA with the phone number 520-829-4308 claiming that I owe money from pay day loans from 3 years ago that I supposedly took out. When I asked for them to verify my info half of it was completely wrong. They said I owed 3,092.50 and that I had til 4pm today to pay it in full or else a felony fraud warrant would be issued for my arrest and my license was going to be suspended. And she asked me to hold on and was pretending to be speaking to a detective and that new evidence was found and I'm supossibly on video. She kept repeatatly asking for money and banking info and when I told her I didn't have a bank account she asked me to give a family members banking info.. She was extremely rude and had a treating demeaner in her voice. When I also asked for papers to be sent to me verifying the so called fraud she said none could be sent out and this issue had to be taken care of today... After getting off the phone I searched the number and a lot of things showed up about that number being a scam
Someone just called me from this numbet claiming to be from some fraud company claiming yhat a detective wanted to dpeak with mevaboutba fraudvcase i was involved in when i responded "what??" They automatically connected me to a voicemail to leave information i hung up and trued yo call the number back several times and got all voicemails!! Do Not send them money!!! This is fraud!!! A family friendvwas hit eith this same call and got svammed into sending thr money and later found out it was a scam!!! Do not give thrm any information on your finances or financial institutions! if they call me again i will call the police and i suggest you all do the same. DO NOT LET THEM SCAM YOU! YOUR INFORMATION HAS BEEN SOLD AND THIS IS NOT REAL YOU WILL NOT BE ARRESTED
