I got the same kind of call today! These people are very abrasive and rude. They prey on peoples fears of having bad credit and try to get money out of you!!!! Now the question is how do you report this? FTC, BBB, Police dept? I'm not sure but somthing has to be done!

Yes, I just received this harrassment. They called me off of old information regarding a closed account. They are trying to scam me to get my new bank info. They are very very strong - rude - and will try and scare you. They gave really un-realistic names like Ben Johnson & Marshal Raymond...which they were the same guy...but just trying to do whatever it took. It's actually scary. Luckily I have some brains...and I check my credit report, called the old bank and verified all the things he said were lies. I confronted him about it...and he still tried to scare me with "Payday Fast Cash" was going to put a lawsuit in my name...and so on. He said he worked for Payworth LLC. Yeah that is fake. Wow...I'm sick of these indian people- They tried this before but they said that they recovered funds from a faudulate occurance...and would like my new bank account to deposit the funds in there...I said - no it's ok...just send me a check...and they argued w/ me that they had to put it in directly...so stupid...don't they realize we are aware of fraud these days...Sorry I'm just angry!
Good luck people. I don't know who to report this to...but I had told them I was going to - and I intend to keep my word.
The phone number they called me on was the same (530) 309-0786

I got a call from them several times in the last couple of weeks. I'll be as detailed as possible to help anyone who will come across this.

For the record, I live in Southern California. For me, it was the same as "Godsgirl," they're with Payday Fast Cash and I borrowed money from them at some point. They cited a date to me the first time I called when I asked for more information or for them to mail me a statement, and it was when I was certainly not strapped for cash at all.

They said they wanted to strike a deal with me because of the tough times, I borrowed $800 two years ago, but they only want $500 now, and in two payments of $250. They asked for my debit card number and PIN. I told them I would call them back, and asked if they had a local office. They did not. (Then how did I ever get money from them?)

I immediately went to my local police station, and after the officer took information from me, he called them demanding they send "supporting documentation" of their claims, and insisted that I would not be making any payments until they had a documented case against me so I could "file an identity theft report."

The person became very upset with the officer, who told him to be quiet. The person, "Alex Johnson" and his general manager "Jose Thomas" retorted that the officer needs to be mindful of their client. At that point, the officer sternly chastised them, saying that if they were the loan company, they ARE the client. He asked where they were located, and after a pause, they said Las Vegas (which is not true). He told them to provide me with supporting documentation, or to drop the act. He then advised me not to give them my address, as they should already have it if it's true, and to wait and see if they call again.

I went to the local Social Security Office and confirmed that my SSN is in good standing with no apparent fraudulent activity that they can see. I wanted the peace of mind.

They called again, this time claiming they were taking me to Collections and action would "be taken against my name and social security number." The calls always have a lot of noise in the background, and important things that they say, i.e. verifiable information, are always extra muffled. They tend to have Hispanic names, but always Indian accents.

I have no returned their calls, but I have done my research.

530 is a Northern California area code...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Area_code_530

Tracing the call as best as I could (I don't want to pay $15 to know their address), it looks as though they're calling from Yolo County, in the city of Woodland. The closest I could research for free puts the number between 3rd and 4th Street on North St in Woodland, CA.

The number registers as a landline online, but when I called Woodland Police, the woman said it came up as a cell phone number. That said, I did call Woodland Police just to give them the information I'm now posting here. I don't care too much if they keep calling me, since my answering machine will always be a nice buffer, but I'm getting married soon, and I'd kind of like to not be bothered by these guys.

Since it's a mobile number, they may not be anywhere near Woodland, but for anyone whose situation is similar to mine, here's the contact information for the Woodland Police dispatch. Make sure to have all of your thoughts in order before you call, it will be doing the dispatcher a nice favor since he or she will be taking good care of you :)

Again, caller seems to be located on North St between 3rd and 4th St.

You won't be able to file a police report since there's no physical evidence, but you can give them a heads up. And I advise recording all voicemails they leave you. At least that's some minor form of evidence.

Remember, if you really had a loan with them or anyone else, you will be notified of issues via USPS. Loan agencies take your Driver's License # ora copy of the whole license, as well as your Social Security Number, home address, and telephone number. If you owe them money, they notify you officially, not through flippant phone conversations and garbled messages. Do NOT give your debit card # and PIN over the phone. Even I could steal your money with that! ;)
