I got a call from someone named “Phil” while waiting for a tech support call so, like a dummy I answered it thinking the person calling was from tech support. Nope! “This is Phil are you there?” was what I heard next.
In previous I read about scammers calling trying to connect your phone number with your voice so they could match you voice with some purchase they were making from your phone. It seems that all you have to say is “yes” when they ask “are you there” and you are had! So, I answered “Phil what can I do for you” and he promptly hung up.
I suspect it is someone other than Caller: Coalition of Police and Sheriffs but another scam instead. Either way, the bums are out there trying their best to part you with your money.
We got a call from this number today at 4:44 pm. The caller ID was PLACERVILLE CA, and it was blocked by our call blocker. Thanks to all who posted information about this number. It is apparently a new one for these lowlife coprolites. When I called back (our number is hidden by default on outgoing calls), I heard the same recording I have heard when I anonymously called back other such calls. It begins with "Hello. None of our representatives are available right now." Our area code is 781. Due to numerous similar calls, our call blocker blocks all calls from area code 530. I highly recommend such a device to avoid these nuisances.
