Received 1 call yesterday while driving and told them I could not talk. They stated they would call back tomorrow(today). Received 3 calls today, answering last one. Spoke with female with heavy accent, asking about what credit card I had the highest balance on, Visa or MasterCard and what company it was with. Stating they could lower my interest rate on the card. Asked for Credit Card Number and last four numbers of my social, which I do not give out over the phone. I did not give them the information either. Female got rather upset and transferred me to her supervisor, male with heavy accent. Repeatedly asking for my card number and then trying to guess the first four numbers when I refused to give it to him. I told him I didn't like to hang up on anyone but I was not giving my card number over the phone or giving any part of my social over the phone and this call was over. He started raising his voice and demanding the numbers. Then he called me a "Smart [***]" and when I asked him "What did you call me?" He said "I called you a smart [***]" and continued to yell. I hung up the phone. I then called Capital One and gave them the telephone number and told them of the conversation. The confirmed they have had other complaints and this was not a call that came from their company. They thanked me for not giving my card information out and stated that since I did not give it out, the card could not be used in a fraud situation, but they would put a watch on the account for a couple weeks. However, the lady I spoke with at Capital One advised that they use more than one phone number, so for me not to give my information out to anyone who calls.
