Didn't answer - recorded message left that I need to call back so they can help with action by US Treasury re appearance before a magistrate, blah, blah, blah....
Obviously a scam. Left a name and number but couldn't make out the name due to some sort of accent.
Got the same PRANK in Roswell, GA this morning from someone faking an Indian/Pakistani accent. Now it is the Treasury department they are posturing as. It used to be the IRS for many years.
Got the same call from a Dennis Grey. Called back and spoke to someone with such a thick Indian accent could barely understand him. Knew it was scam before I called but just have to harass these folks. Asked him if his children were proud of what he does for a living and if he would be proud of them if they did the same. He was stunned for a moment then kept asking for my home phone number or he wouldn't be able to help me. I kept laughing and informed him we do not use the term Magistrate here. These people need to know we wI'll not put up with this crap.
Caller left a message stating that if I ignored the call and didn't call back, I would be indicted by a Grand Jury for a federal crime against the Department of U,S. Treasury. Said his name was Dennis Quaid and had an accent. Said "help us to help you".
530-721-8096: Showing as "South Lake Tahoe, CA." Same message. I think representing yourself as U.S. government agency is surely illegal. Can we get these people reported to the FCC ASAP!
Basically same message as others received. Heavy accent using words we do not normally use in the U.S. Sounded like threat of federal prison and not calling back was criminal. The phone number when dialed cannot be completed as dialed. I knew as soon as Dennis Gray started his message it had to be some kind of scam.
