Caller identified as National Republic Congressional Committee knew my name. Asked if it was me and I said yes. Asked again and I said, "what?" at that point the caller disconnected the call. I think I've been scammed
This number is from the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), asking for a donation. I have donated in the past and he knew my name....so they were asking for more. The gentleman was respectful when I told him that I was on their side, but I already made a donation. Having said that, they have been hounding me on my cell and at home for weeks.
Received this call in September from a NRCC solicitor. After explaining for over seven minutes why would not be making a donation the call was terminated. I have since received two letters from NRCC asking for a donation which I had committed to make. I am writing a letter to that sender tyatbtheybwill not be pleased to receive.
I called the number back after hours (using *67 to block my number). The message claims to be the "National Republic Congressional Committee". The 2nd word of the real organization is republicAN (with an AN at the end). This is similar to the faux calls I get from the "Internal Revenue ServiceS" (note the incorrect plural). I can't believe an organization would get its own name wrong. Their message is nearly identical (even the same woman speaking) to the ones I get for "Corporations for Character".
I googled "Corporations for Character legitimacy"; that was enough to get me to stay clear. It also confirmed that they fake (well) speaking to a human instead of a machine. Skip their do not call list (that could actually intensify their calls) and block their number instead.
