If this is truly Virginia Tech, they seem to have been doing this for a while (as prior comments date back to 2012) and they continue to be persistent. They don't give up! Nor do they leave voicemails. I might actually answer if I could confirm the number.

I went to sleep in my office last night and received two calls from this stupid number. First was 2:45 am, second 2:46 am. I was dead asleep, woken up by calls, tried to get to phone thinking emergency. So, this is just a call trying to ask for money? Better save it up, breaking the law by calling this late.
I'm a former hokie who worked in the call center. They're students, following a script. They usually start by asking for 150-200. If you've donated before, the next year they ask for more. Not a scam.
