I get calls daily from these people. Today I just happened to be home working on my "telemarketer lawsuit" project when they happened to call. Someone introduced himself as "Michael" calling for "Amvets" and he was calling from a list of actual names. If you have ever responded to a charity with a donation, your name and number will be passed around (read'sold') to any number of related telemarketers who work on contract with the charities. I told him to take me off the "call list" and he hung up.
We have been getting calls from that number for awhile now. I just got fed up and googled the number and found this site. Not sure how to stop them from calling - anyone have any ideas?
Grandpa (dementia, hospice patient) got 5 calls from this number. The first 4 calls, we intercepted and we told them Dad would not be contributing to the "worthy cause", asked them not to call him, etc. They caught him on the 5th call and extracted a pledge from him. This caused us all great distress.
