I got a call from this number this afternoon. (559-246-8574) A man with a country accent said he was with the Sheriff's warrant division, a "Deputy Chad Cahill", and I was in trouble for not showing up for jury duty. (He used my first and last name ). He even used the name Judge Gary Paden and said two warrants had been issued in my name and I could be handcuffed ,jailed , and convicted of a felony and fined up to $700. I told him I'd be checking on that.(Missing jury duty is not a felony and I knew that I hadn't missed one anyway.) We all know that this is a new scam . The Sheriff's Dept. said that they fielded several calls this week about these people. The only scary part about this is that some older might believe these guys and be victimized . Nothing came up about this number so I needed to post this. Watch for this one!
These jerks harassed my father claiming they were the sheriffs office and we're going to arrest him unless he paid them 1000.00 that they would personally pick up. SCAM!!! We reported it to the police.
This number called my house and left a message for my mom (who doesn't live here) and said it was Deputy Chad from TCSO regarding an open warrant. That's guys for adding this info. I had never heard of the scam.
I received a call from this number today also as reported by "lab" above. The man also had a country accent but said he was "Mike Miller, badge #1623," and he claimed the judge was Christine Carter. He said I owed for two warrants at $750.00 each and they had to be paid by "electronic money voucher" by 5:00 pm today or a deputy would show up at my door to arrest me. He said after paying the warrants I was scheduled for a court date on Oct. 6th and the judge would decide whether my money would be returned or not.
I called the Tulare County Sheriff and they said this is a scam and put me in touch with the Jury Commissioner's office who confirmed there was no warrant for failure to appear or contempt of court and I was not scheduled for a court date. I notified the Tulare Police and they confirmed this is a scam presently going around in the area.
