I just received a call from two men. The first telling me he was from microsoft and found that we had downloaded milicious data on our computer that was making it crash. I played along and was transferred to another guy that went by the name of Jack Williams - he had a heavy accent not normally associated with a person by the name of Jack Williams. I asked for him to give me a web site that I could research the problem that he was telling me about and he was not able to. The call was ended. It is a weird scam.
I had the same experience as other reporter but in addition I had a strange experience. My bank ID was dispayed in the morning when I turned my PC on. In my country (Sweden) this is used to get information from authorities about me (e.g. tax information. In that case information is served to the PC from en external device via cable). In any case the call was the second suspicious PC-related activity within 2 hours. The bank still thought it was a coincidence. The only recent download I made was a shockwave player to see some news items.
