December 18 2014 - 574-555-0143 - Beware of this fraud! Somone claiming to be a Microsoft rep phoned and insisted I turn on my computer so that he could instruct me how to make adjustments to remove a new virus. I had not identified myself, and when I asked him how he obtained my unlisted phone number there was a pause and then the dial tone.
Caller had a strong accent indicating he was calling to fix my computer. Accused me of telling him a lie and got snarly when I told him I wasn't interested.
called telling me he needed access to my authorized windows computer (i have a mac) to deal with "bad things downloaded form the internet." let him go through his whole spiel that he uses to gain remote access. then asked how would you feel if someone called his parents to take advantage of and rob them. told him he should be ashamed of himself for preying on the foolish and elderly. line went quite, thought he was gone, then he said, very quietly, thank you sir i'm sorry sir thank you sir and hung up.
