They call and threaten you with legal action, which is totally against the law by the way. Chances are, if you have any debt they may be trying to collect it is outside of the statute of limitations (check your local and state laws on time barred debt).
Scumbags hardly describe these low lifes, they are bottom feeders who can't get a real job in the real world.
It is definately a scam, complete with the [***] that perepetuate their trade on un-suspecting citizens. DO NOT, and I repeat DO NOT give them any info, DO NOT return their calls, block them from your phone, go on with your life and have NO fear, they will not, can not come to your house or employment. They survive on fear tactics, if you ignore them you will never, ever be contacted by them in any manner other than the illegal threats they spew from their venemous mouths.
You can even use four letter words on them during their call to you should you choose to answer, what are they going to do? They're an illegal enterprise, are they going to go to the authorities lol....they're underground, they're scum.
Have a happy life....you deserve it, don't let these sub-humans ruin your days...they're NOT worth the time.
Received messages at work and home that sound like recorded voice. They do not identify who they are with or who working for but leave an intimidating message as follows: "This call is in regards to a complaint that has been filed against you. I've been retained to schedule service of documents either at your residence or your place of employment. You have 24 hours to contact the client to resolve your case voluntarily. Understand when you are located you forfeit that right. Their number is 580-208-1898. When calling again. Be sure to reference your case number XXXX. You have been notified." I've received these calls about 3x/day for the last 4 days so it does not sound like the "24" hours is expected. I have fallen prey to these scams in the past and do not want to acknowledge by returning call. Has anyone else received calls from this number and what was the outcome. Trying to identify if real or a scam preferably without acknowledging them directly.
I received a call from a 575-201-2862, which I did not answer as it came up as unknown on my phone. A female notified me that they needed my correct address so that they could file papers with the county. Immediately thereafter, My husband received a call from unknown number and when answered she ask for me, then asked to leave a message for me to call 580-208-1898 regarding a credit card issue. I have no credit cards and haven't had any for more than 10 years.....
I fell for this since there was a card i had years ago and when i divorced i left it to my ex to pay. I assumed he never did and i fell for it and provided my debit card info to them. I am on the phone now with my bank to cancel my card. I can't believe i fell for this scam. I have tried calling them back and they have blocked my number.
Yes I keep get the same call. Never leaves a message. However, today I stayed on the line. I didn't say anything at all not even a "hello". Then suddenly the same message as you described is what I heard.
