Just called--someone picked up saying they were calling on behalf of 'disabled and paralyzed vets'. I looked them up under BBB and they're part of an organized charity group where the charity gives less than 5% of proceeds to disabled recipients. I received a call today 04/15/2015 at 5:46 p.m. I didn't answer it. It only said MIchigan call. If I don't recognize the number, I refuse to pick it up.
I just don't answer numbers I don't know most of the time.
Sometimes I answer and say nothing, the robo call hangs up, as most of the time there isn't even a person until you wait for the 'agent' to pick up. Since they are auto dialing several numbers at once just to get one person to pick up.
Other times I will pick up and put them on hold - without saying anything.
I won't generally pick up any ID that only has a city and state in the ID.
I received a call also today and immediately blocked it since I have a call Blocker device hooked up to my landline. I have also manually blocked the entire area code. I do not answer any numbers I do not recognize. I normally don't call them back but tried this number, it disconnects immediately it is obviously a spoofed number. I have received other calls from different area codes and prefixes also ending in 0000. The next time they attempt to call, it will disconnect immediately on their end and not even ring in my home.
