Caller mentioned that my computer was showing error messages and needed to be cleaned out. Wanted to guide me through the process for my Microsoft Windows software. I asked if he was calling from India, due to his thick accent, and he said that he is Indian but calling from California. California?? Really? With that area code? I also asked him why Jeffrey White is showing up on my caller ID. He mentioned that that was his phone ID. Yeah, right! I told him to call back in one hour when my husband gets home and if the call was not legitimate, that he was going to rip him a whole new one. I can't wait. Oh yeah, my husband works for HP but I did not mention that to him.
Man called stated he was from India and his equipment was showing that we were having computer problems. I told we were NOT having any problems. He began a "spiel" and I hung up. My caller id showed Jeffrey White - 586-978-1938.
He called twice in the afternoon/evening of July 11, 2015.
SCAM There is no way "Windows Support" can see any computer errors AND connect them to your specific Phone Number. The only ones that "might" call about problems could be you own internet provider - IE Comcast., etc. If they call, hang up, get your internet bill out, and call the phone number on your bill.
NEVER give them ANY information!
July 20 2015-- the same comment as many above. Caller ID said Jeffrey White. Thick Indian accent. Said he was with Microsoft tech...etc...I usually play with these scammers for a few minutes but I wasn't in the mood today :/
