Similar numbers have called from Alstead, NH #, by way of Iowa in the past. Don't know if related or not.
Man says he was representing the disabled veterans; asking for donations. Next I was put on line with someone asking if I wanted to use my credit or debit card. I hung up.
Normally I don't pick up the phone if I don't recognize the number but I was headed out the door & didn't look at the screen, thinking it might be the person I was meeting. He sounded like he knew me & called me by my first name. When I responded yes, he immediately told me he was calling from American Veterans (Association?) & stated: "are you ready to report for active duty?" & then laughed as if I thought I would somehow find him as funny & charming as he obviously does. I knew immediately it was a local scammer. I was annoyed because I have an unlisted number so someone out there is obviously selling my info. In any event, I told him he caught me as I was headed out & I'm sorry but I don't have any money to give to anyone. He said something to the effect of "I know it's hard for everyone out there but we're really trying to help homeless veterans......" at that point I said "Yeah, okay, whatever" & hung up the phone. Just another number i'm going to have to block.
