We received the same phone call. He indicated that he was a computer technician and claiming that our PC is sending their server messages. Thats why they are contacting us to clear the infection. Then he asked if we have PC or Mac (he should know :)). He got pissed when we told him we dont have the PC with us at the moment.
He wants people to give him remote access so that he can get passwords and documents from the PC. Be Warned
I got a call from 607-231-5382. The caller said he was from Microsoft. Very hard to understand what he was saying - something about a virus, a bot, and a problem with my computer causing it to do something (not sure what - it was difficult understanding because of his accent).
He wanted me to turn on my computer so he could send me something. I said the computer was in a different room from my phone. He then wanted my phone number (although he had just called me) so he could call me back. I said that I would call him. He gave me the following number: 1-855-573-7130.
I live in Ottawa, Canada and I received the same call. When I felt something was suspicious, I asked him to give me his phone number so I can call back. At first, he insisted on calling me back in 15 minutes, but when he saw that I wasn't gonna budge, he gave me this phone number 1855-573-7130. I asked him for his name so I could ask for him when I call back and he gave me the name "Peter William" even though he sounded very Indian.
