Received a message, telling me to have my bill available. Called the #, and this lady asked if I was who resided at the residence, I said yes and she proceeded to tell me she had some cost saving opportunities for me bill, and I told her I was quite happy the way things are and hung up.
Scammer preying on people in Ithaca, NY area.. They called from a different number (917-398-9352) and left voice message to call this number about a utility billing issue. Definitely NOT NYSEG. She asked me to get my NYSEG bill and gave a fake name and fake company name (Renee Park from Indigo Energy). She is trying to get your NYSEG account information (PoD ID) which they can use to switch your service over to a different supplier. This is called "slamming" and you will end up with huge bills and high termination fees if you give them this information. They try to convince you that it is a good deal. Avoid! Appears they are preying on senior citizens. If you get duped and you or have a relative that gave them account info, you should call NYSEG immediately and they can cancel the switch.
This is an Alternate Supplier named ELIGO ENERGY. They are making outbound calls to potential NYSEG customers and on the message only stating they are NYSEG. This is NOT NYSEG. They are attempting to switch your electric/gas supply to their company.
