Some recording saying I can get lower interest rates for paying on time. Like my grandma said, you never get nothing for nothing. Anyone who calls from a company wants in your wallet one way or another.

As I understand it, the Federal DNC list exempts non-profits, politicians and companies with whom one has previously done business. The reason the Do Not Call list doesn't work (besides the fact that these people are criminals) is that the scammers apparently found a loophole in the laws. If you have been unfortunate enough to answer the phone, they claim you are a customer. This is how they get around the law and its requirements. Best strategy is to never answer your phone unless you know who's calling. If it's urgent or a friend, they will leave a message.
When I answered, a recorded message said that since we have such a good pay record, they could give me a great percentage rate on my credit cards. I hung up. I get these types of calls often. Usually the caller ID says a city name - this time it was Seattle MO and then the number - but when I redial the number, it is either bogus or a recorded message says that they are unavailable and to leave a message (no company name or anything). Annoying.
