It could be nothing you did that caused this. Phone numbers are for sale all over the internet. As are credit card numbers, social security numbers, and other sensitive data that scammers use to build identity theft files. It could be that your phone number was entered (maybe even erroneously) as "live bait" -- that is, a working phone number that someone will answer (which are worth more money than other kinds) -- and it got sold and re-sold several times over in a very short timeframe. It's like internet spam. Once it starts trickling in, you can expect an eventual, overwhelming flood. It's just the disgusting reality we live in today.
