Same as the other responses. A debt collection company and I have no outstanding debts. I didn't call back, just blocked the number. My daughter has student loans through Navient, but has the payments automatically withdrawn and is not delinquent on any.
My Caller ID says this number is "Navient." A female voice left a voice mail stating they were trying to get ahold of Jennifer Rodriguez. I don't know any Jennifer Rodriguez, I don't know any business named Navient and I am not delinquent on any of my own bills. So as far as I'm concerned, we have no business and I am not answering their calls OR calling the 866 number they asked me to call.
Navient is Sallie Mae, the government sanctioned enterprise that gives out student loans. You will need to send them a certified, return receipt "not me" letter. You could have learned what you needed to know by reading the other posts in this thread.

I Google searched Navient & found they have a website. They specialize in student loans. But I still don't know any Jennifer Rodriguez & I'm still not answering their calls or calling back. Looks like Navient may be trying to collect on student loans that were obtained using false information & are now in default.
This number and a few others, all with the same caller ID name "Navient" have been calling a couple times every single day for the last week or so. If a message is left at all, it's a robo message saying it's a debt collection call from Pioneer with a really oddly inserted voice that says the call is from "inaudible Smith". Seems like a lot of people get these calls and the name is always "something Smith". In my household, we do have student loans through Navient, however they are all current and there are no late payment marks on my credit report or anything else that indicate there could be a problem. We have not received any communication or verification that any of our accounts are past due other than these phone calls which never specify who they're looking for. **I've read that Navient used to have Pioneer handle their collections but parted ways with them in 2014 or 2015** This leads me to believe this a huge scam since they are continuing to present that they are affiliated with Navient with their caller ID. They obviously had access to Navient's records, and now that they no longer handle those collections legally, they're harassing lots of people to see who they an get money from. The FTC does not make it easy to file a complaint for this. They don't have a category/sub category that fits this situation. They do have a page which tells you (among other things) to get the caller's information like name, company, phone and address and have them mail you validation of the debt, but these companies (in my opinion) would only use your information to continue harassing you. I don't feel that I should have to talk to these people at all.

Thats correct, you don't. They have to prove you owe and send it via the US Mail.
