Navient as you know is a student loan lender and also a collection agency.  Pioneer has or had a contract with the Dept. of Education to collect student loans.  Now the simple fact is that they still have to follow FDCPA rules.  All collection agency complaints are to go through the CFPB.  Failing to assert your rights by not sending them that letter results in the fact that they will continue to call you, and effectively prevents you from taking action against them.  So, I will give you the information you need.  You can use it or not.  Your choice.  However don't continue to complain if you fail to use the law to your advantage and the calls and harassment continue.  The addresses for both Navient and Pioneer are easily found on the internet.

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation, cease and desist calling, or "not me" letter (think of it as the best $6.47 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.  You also need to report them to the proper agencies to which I have provided links to.  Then you need to go out and get a consumer lawyer to sue them on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket) and let them pay you for the harassment.  If everyone did these three things, these crooks would be bankrupt and we would all be the richer for it.  Use these web sites to find an attorney in your state that will probably take the case on a contingency basis (no money out of your pocket up front):  http://www.consumeradvocates.org/

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

Read up on your rights here and also make a complaint at this government site:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

What they have to do within five days of their first contact is to send a dunning letter.  However, if this is a skip tracing call or they are calling the wrong number, then that will never happen.  The dunning letter technically does not prove that you owe anything or that they have the legal right to collect.  That comes after you send the debt validation letter and they provide the information from the original creditor as required by the CFPB.  I always love talking to DC's because they are so much fun to toy with, because they never know the law or how to follow it.

Same as the other responses.  A debt collection company and I have no outstanding debts.  I didn't call back, just blocked the number.  My daughter has student loans through Navient, but has the payments automatically withdrawn and is not delinquent on any.

I'm not sure who these people are who are calling as early as 6:15 am and as late as 10:20 pm (Az-mountain standard). They have now started calling various family members who have NEVER been listed on any employment and/or credit applications as being associated with me.

I just received a call for an employee. I told the caller that the person was unable to be reached and that I could take a name and number and have them call back. A man who called himself Jeremy said that he had some personal information for the intended call recipient and gave me another number to relay on the message. I checked the called ID and it said the call was from a company called Navient. When I looked them up it said it was for student loan debt collections.
