O.k. here's the true story. "blocking" these calls is an exercise in futility. Thanks to our "friends" at various phone companies, these scumbags have access to (literally) thousands of phone numbers from which to call. Simple fact - phone companies are making money from each call. FTC has staged raids on several of these scumbags that were allegedly raking In $18 million per year, and shut down their "boiler rooms". Yet, they continue. Why? they are making big bucks - obviously. If they didn't have the cooperation of various phone companies, they would be gone tomorrow.
Think about it - no phones, no scumbags. I have found the best way to get rid of these pests is to answer the calls, and
REALLY cuss them out. Even low lifes like them will soon get tired of being verbally abused. Write/call/e-mail your Senators and Congressmen/women for legislation to force the phone companies to stop colluding with these bums. AND, under no circumstances cooperate with these pigs - do NOT give them ANY information i.e. credit card info., NEVER give out any part of your Social Security number, nor your name, or your date of birth - NOTHING.

Well, duh, that's because each exchange code has up to 10,000 possible numbers, and each area code has up to 792 possible exchanges, and there are 792 possible area codes. That multiplies out to more than 6 billion possible phone numbers. However, only a few of the possible area codes are in actual use.
The bigger problem is the scammers spoof the telephone number they are calling from when they don't want people calling them, or tracing them down quickly.
Your post was basically "I hate the phone companies" - you never said you got a call from this particular number.
REcording asked if I'd like to get lower credit card rate. I stayed on line and I asked if they knew they were breaking the law. There response was "don't you ever break law'. I said no and was called an "f-ing" liar.
