A man with a heavy accent said Windows software on my computer had reported a problem. He directed me to a third party web site to enable him to take over my computer remotely. Before I clicked to authorize it, I asked him his name. He only said "Ross." I asked him his company name. He said "Wizard." I asked him for a phone number at which he could be reached so that I could authenticate his identity. He said "315" and then disconnected the call.
I received a call from a man with a thick accent claiming someone was trying to hack my "Windows" and I needed to "turn on" my computer. I responded, no, he wanted to know if there was a better time to call. I replied his number was on my caller ID and I would call them back at my convenience....fat chance...this is definitely a SCAM!!!
We do not answer calls from unknowns or people we do not know. Scammer use these type numbers. What has happened with do not call list? No one pays attention to it.
