I got a call from 610-238-6600 and was asked if I received a copy of the "Yellow Book."  I was not asked to verify anything.  I was only asked what my name is.

I just want to let everyone on this board know all of your "fears" are completely misguided. I used to work for Procall and made those phone calls.
1. Why do we call: We were NOT trying to sell any products or services. Procall, IE PDC our parent company, was hired as a third non-biased party. We simply were checking on whether the delivery person is doing their job. This is how is works. In the database, a territory was given to each person. The territory was a recently delivered upon area. We judged our decisions on a pass/fail ratio. If the percentage was a high enough, 80% yes, the territory, or route, would pass and the driver would get paid for that route. If it failed, the driver's pay would be held until the addresses in question received their books.
2. Do Not Call List- They Do Not Call List is only for firms selling items and services. Since we are a verification service, it does not apply to us. If you answer yes to the question, the phone call ends and that is it. If you answer no, we are supposed to verify your address just to make sure it is the correct one and you may request more copies of the phone book at this time. By the way, everything is free of charge. However, if you want a phone book from a different area (ie a different county than the one you live in) there may be a charge. We cannot sell or place order for these kinds of situations, so I always recommended going to the phone company's website.
3. Phone companies- Verizon, Yellow Book USA, Dex, AT&T and Telius (located in Canada only) were the companies we contracted with.
4. Hiring policies- I was not in charge of those decisions. I left Procall sometime ago. Some people were great on the phone and others were less to be desired. Just like any job, we had our problems.
In conclusion: This is not a hoax, scam, or way to steal information. It is as straight forward as it possibly can get. And also, just a little background...we get paid very little, no benefits, and have to deal with working conditions that still have me shaking my head. People screaming at me while I was working an 8 hour shift because I had to pay my way through college wasn't my idea of fun. However, I know people have bad days and do not want to be bothered. Honestly, I understand and truthfully...do you think I wanted to be calling?

You're completely wrong. They do not sell anything and have been hired by the phone companies themselves to check to see if driver's are delivering the book. Also, it does not matter if you are a customer of Verizon. Since Verizon is sponsoring the phone book, everyone gets one regardless of what phone company they subscribe to.

Since Procall is not a telemarketing firm merely a regular call center they are not subject to the Do Not Call list. You're entire paragraph concerning them is completely false.

Problem over?
Just received a call from this number and it was 1and1 internet solutions checking on the web site I setup. Apparently ProCall dropped the number.
