Foreign person calling saying he has a law suit in on me but is fisching for nifo and not able to give me any information or verify the supposed debt. NJ
Foreign man who calls himself "Emil Johson" with caller ID 502-554-9301 called 12/17 at 3:55 PM EST saying he is with the Law Investigation Dept. and advised there is a lawsuit against my name and social security number that my social security has been "blocked" by the US Government. Also said my residence is under investigation. He demanded I call him back immediately before the case is transferred to the courts. He told me "you don't really know what is going on." He gave a call back number: 610-717-1806. Oh yes I do know what is going on!! What a scam!! Reported to https://complaint.ic3.gov/default.aspx.
This is definitely a SCAM. I have been getting calls from these people since June of this year.
They call and leave the same message from different phone numbers. I always google the number and run into people who are getting the same calls. Today I received a call from a Mr. Neal Johnson who can't even pronounce his own name. He left me a message telling me that he needed me or my attorney of record to return the call the very second I received the message. I was told not to disregard the message because if I did all he could do is wish me good luck as the situation unfolds on me and best of luck for my kids.
That last part really irritates me cause it sound like a threat to my kids. They are definitely scam calls.
I have reported them in the past to two different district attorneys. The last time i reported them to the CA attorneys office since the area code they were calling from was from California. I received a letter from them explaining that these people use cell phones and are not necessary calling from the area code they are calling from. Do not confirm any of your information with them, especially your social #. I was told to just hang up and not respond to their calls. I would like to know how to get them from calling.
I wish these people would be caught.
Phone numbers can be spoofed so the caller can be anywhere on the planet. What you can do is report to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.
