Received a call yesterday from this number. They called at least 4 times....knew my name and my address.
Did the same as some of you, stated I was receiving a credit for some magazines. When I questioned them, I was told I had to update my account--by giving checking acct info--to get any information.
Incredibly shady.
this phone number calls me like once a week, and NEVER leaves a message, when I call it back, it keeps me on hold for like 5 mins, tells me my call is important and then says: good bye..and hangs up...WTH is this and how do i get it to stop????
This is most likely generated as a result of an online form you filled out recently for an offer, discount, trial, free stuff, etc. It may have been a legitimate offer with a lot of loose ends tied to it, and designed to gather your contact information for future marketing campaigns. The marketing co's auto dialing out to the phone numbers that get submitted from those forms to follow up - even if you didn't complete the process, if you got your information in the form and then cancelled it, by the time you backed out, they collected it and are now using it. Legal? No, but difficult to track - the best thing to do is ignore this number and it will probably stop after a few days. You may have also gotten a tracking cookie or virus in the process, so do a google search to find one or more of the top free virus cleaners, and run them - if you're getting calls from this number.
