Number started calling today, but it's calling a conference room phone that happens to be near my desk. I finally answered it because it got annoying hearing the phone ring, and all I got was a series of beeps for about 15 seconds and then the call disconnects. I've answered it 3 or 4 more times with the same result.
Ridiculous. I keep getting phone calls really early in the morning from here. When I answer, they hang up. I can't block the number and I'm getting really sick of this!!
Used to work for the VA. When we call out, it is from an extension. But there is a "super" number that is registered when a "receiver" machine acknowledges it. So it could be from ANY of the literally thousands of departments/extensions that stem from that one particular number (i.e.: hospital).
Once I found out it was a VA number, I assume it was a hiring authority at the hospital (I'm trying to get reinstated as an employee), I realized it would be pointless to try and track it down.
My advise to you is wait for a call back and if it is important, then they WILL call back. If not, then chalk it up as a misdial...
