This number and several others is a collectors phone number. Pass on it, block it, or, of you are prepared to do this, answer. and say "never call me again." They can only call you more time. to tel you what they will do legally if you do not talk to them. Any call after that is a violation of the fair debt collection act, and the fines are big!
You need to stop listening to your bar room buddies legal advice. First, the FDCPA does not cover creditors, only 3rd party debt collectors. There are no "fines", let alone "big" ones. Verbal requests to stop calling should be followed up by a letter. Perhaps you should take the time to read and learn?
I received a call from this number Comenity. In addition I received calls from the same collection agency with other numbers. I do not owe anything. They do not leave messages and I don't pick it up.
