When the debt is decades old and has not been pursued by the lender for such a significant period then it is really not ethical for a scavenger collector to pursue the alleged debtor after the statute of limitations has long been expired. Especially when, in many states, making a payment of any sort to these people, will restart the statute of limitations. After the SOL has passed they no longer legally owe the money. Go sell the "ethics" line to a group of sharks who eat each other.
