This is A TOTAL SCAM. I called Discover Financial using their number not this one and it is a total fraud and they are trying hard to stop it and probably will soon but till they do do not believe that this is the Discover Card and do not give them any information at all nothing at all just block them or ignore the caller It is FRAUD AND THEY WILL GET YOU SOME WAY.
This number actually appears to be Discover. I called it back after being called dozens of times a day (I use Call Control to block it) and talked to a guy named Justin. Seemed legit. He asked my name and I told him I'm not telling him that in case it was a scam. He chuckled and said, "I understand and I'm sorry. This isn't a scam." Then he asked if my name was xxxxxx and I said no. He asked if I knew anyone by that name and I don't, so I said no. He was pretty cool about all of it and said he'd take my number off the record. So, we shall see. If they stop calling me, then I'll assume it's actually Discover. I'll try to remember to come back here and post a follow-up for anyone interested.
Just got a call from this number, it's called a few times in the last few days. Thought it was something else, so I answered it. Woman asked for me, I said who's calling, she rattled something off quickly. I said huh?? She said is this xxx (me). I said who's calling? This is Kim from Discover card services (I do have a Discover card and it's delinquent lol), I have a specialist waiting to get on the line, it'll just be a second, is this xxx? Said ok. Then music starts playing, at same time I said well they better hurry, I'm busy. And she answered while the music was playing, said oh I'm sorry they should be on any second...and I hung up at that point. Do not answer this call, even if you have a Discover card. Just very shady sounding all around. I've heard the story going around people getting you to say "Yes" on recording, not sure what they can accomplish with that. But if it's for a line of credit, they're screwed :)
