Numerous calls attempting to get us to accept a "prepaid" medical alert button. Please stop from calling. Originally was posting bank of America on caller I'd. And giving no number
They rang. I blocked 'em. They can call no more. Seriously folks, why don't you get one o these things? It will block up to 270 numbers or you can set to block everyone except those numbers you specifically enter. You can see who calls even if they are blocked so that you can check out the number if you like. A blocked number never rings through and can't even get your answering machine. It was fantastic during the elections when about 15 robo calls with political messages were attempting to call in a day. You can block entire area codes if you like such as 213 (Washington D.C.)! You can even set it to ring once if you want to check out the call yourself. Several places offer them. I got mine on Amazon. My neighbor just bought one that blocks 1200 numbers! Honestly folks, it's the best 50 bucks you'll ever spend.
The FTC will not take any action without a "significant" number of complaints. They will not say what makes a "significant" number of complaints. I suggest you do the following:
(1) file a complaint at
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
(2) email or snailmail your congress-persons (Representatives and Senators) about the FTC's failure to enforce the Do-Not-Call list. Mention Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission. This is the guy whose name appears on correspondence claiming they don't have enough complaints. (If you have a Republican, forget this step, they are not interested in our problems or interested in accomplishing anything useful).
(3) call the FTC, Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission at 1-202-326-2514.
Social Security and Medicare do not "sell" your info...they give it away! If the USPS charged full fare to business junk mail, they would be well into the black just off the insurance companies wanting my Medicare business. Republicans support the "public" availability of your private information because they claim to believe in "open" government. Funny, they are the Party of Big Business and they believe businesses should be protected from public scrutiny. They are also the biggest users of PACS that hide their $$$ donors. Only your data is public...not anything having to do with their supporters.
Telemarketers are people who are too stupid to flip burgers or master the phrase "Welcome to K-mart". If you are too dumb to see through their scams, you're probably on their hiring list. Don't ever answer these calls. If they don't make their quotas, they will be terminated in favor of another new moron. It's time to cull the idiots.
