Caller ID showed simply "Boston MA". I called the number back (prefixed by *67 to hide my caller ID) and it was recorded voice claiming to be the "American Veterans Support Foundation." There is no organization by that name in Boston. The voice would respond to my speech as if it were trying to sound like a live person, but the responses were obviously recorded. It was trying to solicit a "donation". The whole thing smelled bad and I hung up when it was about to transfer me to a real person. I see some mentions of a similarly named and very poorly-regarded charity, but I'm not convinced this was even they. I consider this caller a scammer.
We got a call from this number today at 2:10 pm and didn't answer. The caller ID was UNKNOWN NAME. A legitimate charity would identify itself. This number will be added to our call blocker.
