These guys say they are from Microsoft and that your computer is a robo-computer sending out spam. They have to fix it or you will be disconnected from the internet. They will send a link for you to click, to fix the issue.
DONT do it. They will hack your computer by installing malware. This is an old scam, targeting the elderly. Yes the guys are from India.
I have received numerous calls from this number, they never leave a message but today they did and this is what it said. The call is a recorded voice saying "This is the Legal Affairs of the US Treasury Department calling. My name is Elvia Mcguire, my badge number is 4165. The nature and purpose of this call is regarding an enforcement action which has been executed by the United States Treasury Department regarding a tax fraud against your name. Ignoring this will be an intentional attempt to avoid initial appearance before a magistrate judge or a grand jury for a federal criminal offense. So before this matter goes to federal claims, courthouse or before you get arrested, kindly call us back at our number as soon as possible. The number to reach us is 2022470267. Let me repeat the number is 2022470267. Hope to hear from you soon before the charges are pressed against you. Thanks." This is got to be illegal as they are impersonating the federal government. Is there any government agency that can investigate and put these people out of business?
