The owner(s) of this number are using it as a means of harassment. If there was a legitimate reason for calling an answering machine will record that message. I do not answer ANY calls where the caller is not clearly identified.
It is from the non-profit organization, American Center for Law and Justice. If you have had previous interaction with them then they are probably calling to solicit donations. It is a great organization with wonderful goals for the country. I've donated in the past but will have to wait for a while before I am able to donate again.
I have experienced the same thing that "retac" has had happen. Every couple days, I receive a call from this number, only to have no one speak after I've answered. Within about 5 seconds, the phone disconnects. It seems to be coming from the Alton, Illinois area. I have screamed hello, over and over, just in case it's a bad connection, to no avail. I suppose it's time to call my phone provider and totally block the number, it's just very frustrating that I should have to do anything. As a disabled person, it's a big hassle to search for the phone for no reason. Some have reported it as a telemarketer. That is the only upside to the call not coming through.
