The message -- initially said nothing, or may have said something, but it was very muffled & unintelligible. I had no idea what the call was about. Have no idea what company or service or person called. I looked up the number because I am on a do-not-call list. I see that the number discussed on this site says that it is a blood center. If this is a request to donate blood, wow.

If you have given blood they will call, just ignore them, but remember the more they call the more immediate the need. They pull in volunteers to make calls and use automated reminders more when there is a shortage. The economy in general and this winter's snow have made platelet and universal donors drop drastically.
I used to give blood every three months. As I got older, iron level decreased, I gave every six. Now my doctor says I am perfectly healthy, but for my age only give once a year. I don't mind that NY Blood stills hopes I will give 4 times a year. I would if I could. It saves lives.
Like I said, if the calls annoy, just ignore, but don't get irritated. Remember they are not asking for anything except your help to save lives and they would not be calling if you had not donated before.
Supposedly only 2% of the population donate blood. Think about that and think about needing blood if you were in an accident. There are a lot of people accepting the life saving donation of a small few. That is why NY Blood has to be persistent.
Jay, I agree. I started donating only recently during a blood drive at my dental office. I have since donated twice more and I was scheduled to donate but had to cancel due to other commitments for my husband who is ill. I received a phone call, but no message and it's fine. I understand the importance of donating and hope that if I need blood it would be there for me.
im in 8th grade and never even heard of this blood center and i get these calls at like 10:30 every other day!!!!! while im at school so i cant pick it up and tell them to go away
I've been getting calls from this number, and during class, too. When I do pick up, they never answer. It's been occurring for the past couple of weeks for me, but I had no idea it had been like this for a while.
