Yesterday a man named John Carter (Indian accent included) called from this number and knew that I had a Dell Pc along with the model and service tag number. He said the Dell servers were showing malicious software on my PC and that if I gave him remote access he could fix it. I asked if I could put him on hold and while he was holding, I called Dell and they said they NEVER contact a customer and that it was a fraudulent call. I thanked Mr. Carter for calling and hung up. They've called no less than 15 times since yesterday afternoon. Sometimes caller ID shows Private Number, other times a string of digits and other times US Tech Care. Apparently ex-Dell employees are using personal data to sell something.
Caller ID said US Tech Care. I answered and a man with an Indian accent asked for me by name. I asked why. He asked me if I had a Windows computer. I lied and said no. He said his records showed I owned a Windows computer. I told him his records were wrong, thanked him, and hung up. Sounds like a scam.
I got a call from this number as well and a man with an indian accent asked me if I had a Dell computer and that it had some malicious software issues. This is not the first time I have received calls from people with Indian accents. They all identify my mom's computer by model #, which we were having problems with and contacted the 800 # from Dell to repair a while back. Ever since, I have received 4 calls. I told them that I was in the middle of something and that I would call right back. I asked for their name and call back number. They always gave me an English name like Jane Smith. This time his name was John Carters. The last few times, they gave me a call back number that was not in service. This time, they gave me this number and it did appear on my caller ID.

Variations on this number have been calling me for a couple months. The male caller always has an accent & says he's calling about my dell computer. He tells me i have "inadvertently downloaded malware", but i can never get him to tell me exactly what he wants. When i call him out on being a scammer, he hangs up.
I had a call from this number stating that he was from DELL. Supposed Indian accent. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY DELL THAT THEY NEVER CALL THEIR CUSTOMERS. I TOLD HIM THAT INFO AND TOLD HIM TO NEVER CALL AGAIN. I REPORTED HIM TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION AT 877 382-4357. PLEASE DO THE SAME!
