I use a local credit union and have their 'fraud alert' number saved to my phone. Suspicious because this text had two different area codes, neither from my state, I Googled the number and got you fine folks! Thanks for alerting me; I will delete and block the numbers.
Just got a BS text telling me to call ref. my Chase debit card. I just delete this crap, if a credit card company or bank wants to get a hold of me they have my name and contact info.
got a text telling me my chase debit cad might be compromised...called number...all automated..cannot talk to live person...I do not have an account with them and assumed it was someone using my name and or phone number. Called a Chase number - went to the Philippines...they did check my cell and said no accounts were linkied to it. asked to be transferrred state side....they obliged...spoke with woman who looked up number and said it was not a chase bank number. I suggested that it be reported to their fraud department. She told me I couldn't report it as I don't have an account with them...I asked her to report it as I felt it went out to multiple people who might plug in their information. She said she couldn't go to their fraud department, but she'd take it to their department head. Mean while...these text messages keep going out...checked out number...came from near Madison Square park in NY, NY...wasn't gonna pay to get the name....it is a land line provided by Level 3 carrier.
There's more than a good chance the phone number is spoofed on your caller ID. That is typical behavior of our modern-day scammers, using VOIP or other untraceable phone lines. Sad to think that the caller ID service that many of us pay for has been rendered useless by technologies that allow this to happen.
Madison Square Park is a lovely part of town. I hate to see it sullied. These bums who are calling are most likely overseas.
