I also received a call last three months ago on this same number, she was looking for me and I asked what's this regards for. She said its about a job for a food server position that I applied for. At first I was skeptical on the things she said to me that I need to bring $80 for the food handlers license. But I agreed to set up an interview with TGO Consulting and I went to their office and luckily I passed the interview, then done the training for the license with them. And now I got the job and I'm earning $17 per hour not included the tips. It's not a scam at all.
I got a call from them yesterday and went in today. I didn't have any problems. I have been looking around for information after I got home and I even asked in the building before I left. Apparently they have been there for years with no problems. Even looking at the original posts in this thread is from like 2015. Not to mention like a previous poster said they have only one complaint. That is probably because you can't make complaints unless you actually complete everything through the company. So I assume that if they have been operating for years, with no complaints from people who actually went through everything that it should be fine.
I am taking the class next week so I will let you all know for sure then what is really up with this company. If anything when I go through the class and it turns out to be bad I can make a complain because I actually did it.
A few things TGO Consulting hopes you never, ever learn before turning open your already light pockets for their "licensing", "training", and "privilege of begging on one knee" fees: (emphases mine)
Excepting unskilled laborers, New York employment agencies may charge fees only when abiding a readily seen contract and "AFTER the agency refers the applicant to an opportunity that results in the person being hired. The agency must give the applicant a copy of the contract, and it is not allowed to charge just to register an applicant."
Employment Agencies Frequently Asked Questions - NY Attorney General's Office
"We at DCA have seen too many job seekers respond to ads for employment only to have agencies charge them illegal fees as high as $1,400—for processing their application, background checks, or “required” trainings .... Many of these agencies operate without a license, send people to jobs that don’t exist, or place them in jobs that don’t pay minimum wage."
How Employment Agencies Abuse Jobseekers - New York City Department of Consumer Affairs Commissioner Julie Menin
DCA urges people to read its "Job Hunter’s Bill of Rights" and to report scofflaw predators.
Nope, it all worked out for me at the class. Taking my test next week at the city health center. I will take a picture of my stuff when I pass.
@Resident47 I read what you posted and would like to tell you that I have everything that they are supposed to issue according to that .GOV link you provided. I have receipts, a contract, also it DOES say they can take money in advance, not to mention $80 is certainly not $1400. I haven't been sent to a job yet because I have to go take this city test but let me use some actual logic here - if they are going to send me to a job that doesn't pay minimum wage then why would I need to get a licensing, (which they are really making me do as I have to go to the city exam center to take this test) because below min wage is obviously an off the books job you don't need a license for? Or training for that matter? Wouldn't they just charge me and send me and not require me to do any training?
The second article you posted is an article from a news agency about scams that charge thousands of dollars for a single training and then disappear. Again my logic stands that you are wrong:
1. I am not paying anywhere near that amount in the article
2. Obviously TGO hasn't changed their number and has to have been there for at least 2 years even according to this very site and according to them longer than that so they aren't charging people and running away.
3. If they were taking money from people like you claim and if they were not getting them jobs wouldn't you think that 2 years of people would be at their door? Yes they would but they are not.
4. Don't you think they would just change their number? Obviously since we are still talking about.
5. Have you been there? Have you talked to anybody there? No, how are you even qualified to say they are a scam? You are not.
So basically You and most people here have no information of TGO scamming anybody and your own links from Attorney Generals Office prove that they are following the law.
I will be attaching my stuff from the testing center when I am done and where I end up working because honestly they were really nice, explained everything, and a lot of you guys who literally never did anything with them are just calling them a scam because you want them to perform their services for free. Well I will keep this updated and I will laugh at you when I go to work.
And it wouldn't let me use Brian S. so I changed my name to Brain-S when I signed up but I am the same person.
