they called and left a message saying "this message is for you" no name mentioned. His name was Jacob Morris or so he said. SCAM....I blocked the number and they called from another number. I just keep blocking them.
I received a call from this number from a male with a thick accent, something to the effect of, I needed to return the call and if I didnt, the only thing he could do was wish me luck. (This is not verbatim, but a brief summary) This was left on my voicemail and it infuriates me that people such as this can get by doing this type of thing. I researched on the Federal Trade Commission website and apparently debt collectors must provide written "validation notice" of how much you owe within 5 days after first contacting yoy, this must include the name of the creditor you owe. I just left a message at this number giving only my name and phone number. I informed them that I had reviewed information from the Federal Trade Commision and I was requesting a "written validation " of how much I owe. I informed them that if they had my phone number, I was sure they must have my address as well and if I did not receive anything from them, I was requesting they not contact me further, as I was sure this was a scam or phishing for information. Individuals should not be threatened or harassed and this also goes against the Federal Trade Commision guidelines. On their website is instructions on how to file a complaint, as well as information on a lawsuit. There seems to be so many of us that has been contacted in the same manner from the same number, a class action lawsuit could potentially hamper the unethical practices they employ. My heart goes out to the elderly and those who are working two jobs and barely making ends meet and then scared by these "Individuals" of being thrown in jail, wages garnished, or police visiting their place of work. It is a scare tactic and please, please research this so that when/if you do speak to them, you are ready to let them know that you are not falling for their nonsense. I do not feel they are located in New York, one site I found indicated our caller ID's were tricred into thinking that is where the call was from. I find it odd that for the past few days, I get calls from New York wanting to loan me money, then when I don't respond, I get the call wishing me luck. I could use some money from a lawsuit against them, so if they continue, so will I. My phone converts voice mail to text and I will be saving any and all from them. I do not answer, just because i want to see what they say before I call them back , so I can get my ducks in a row and have in mind what I will say. Good luck to all of you. :)
Had a missed call and voicemail stating "Jacob Morris" was trying to contact me about a "legal matter pending against me and I needed to contact them immediately to resolve this before 'it fell on' me" and all they "could do was wish me good luck" if I didn't respond or have my attorney contact them.
When I returned the call "Kevin Jones" with "Law Office" took call and acted surprised I knew "nothing about case in my involvement" and told me he would be explaining it. I asked what law Firm and he responded "why do you need to know"? I asked for where call was coming from, and was told "New York State Of"
Both men had very strong Middle Eastern accents.
I responded I would call New York Attorney General, and they could respond to State and Federal investigators, and was RUDELY informed I should not threaten them because they were legal assistants.
They then replied, "good luck and you were warned" and hung up.
