I just got the same message. I called it back. Man says he's John Roberts, but he is no white man. Clearly middle eastern. Couldn't tell me the zip code that the sheriff would be arresting me in.
Left voice mail. "95 the hotline to my division is 646-583-5074 I repeat 646-583-5074 now if I don't hear from you or your attorney either the only thing I can do wish you a good luck as the law enforcement team of your state will be soon at your doorstep. Thanks you. I hink they think I am stupid. Just another scamer.
Automated recording left as VM...stated the call is from the Dept of legal affairs of the US Treasury. Gives a badge # and phone# to call back. It's a threating & very childish VM - it's a scam. "if I don't hear back from you or your attorney...I can only do one thing, wish you good luck as law enforcement will be at your door..."
I received the same call just now. Claiming to be with the Dept of Legal Affairs for the US. If they don't hear back, then they wish you good luck and threaten that police will come to your door. It's a robotic recording.
I just received the same call a few minutes ago from this #. I have also been receiving these calls from different #s,stating the same thing,one said it was from the irs and i had a warrant out for my arrest,all of them wanting me to call them or when ive answered the phone they tell me i owe $ and need to pay or ill b arrested. Mind u i havent worked since 2001,my husband is the soul provider & we fill out taxes every year.Never had a problem. Only one time the irs sent a letter because we forgot to give the earnings from a scratch ticket (lottery earnings from the previous year).& said they would discount it from our return.These calls have been annoying & the first time It was scary because they knew my info my address and my ss(i have no idea how). I called our tax collector and she said it was a scam. To not worry,to ignore the calls. That if i owed any $ i would know by a letter.
