Some lady claiming to be from Microsoft's corporate office called claiming that my operating system code had expired. I told her the number was new and wasn't registered at the time that the operating system was installed so she had no way of knowing that it was or wasn't (I had just gotten my home phone). She called me a [***] and hung up.

She had a thick Indian accent. Had received a similar call from the number before telling me I had a deadly computer virus on my computer that could bring down the internet.

I have been getting the same calls about a virus.  They keep calling back.
Contacted Microsoft and they said they would not have anyone call me.  They are aware of the scam and sent this email me to file a complaint.

Called at 7:30 AM from World Wide Web to report a security threat.  He wanted me to go to my computer and let him show me the threats so he could fix them.  Said no thanks.  It sounded like a scam. Didn't know if they were trying to sell something or gain access to my computer.

Same message from this number - woman telling me she was from the World Wide Web and that I had a virus on my computer that she needed to access or my computer would crash in 1-2 days.  She needed me to turn on my computer (the one I was working on when she called) to access the server.  I told her that it sounded shady and she got defensive and asked me if I wanted my computer to crash.  I told her she could call me back tomorrow and she said "no, I have to fix this now".  Tried to get rid of her politely, but she was persistent, so hung up on her.  Wow.  I hope people don't fall for this...

Woman with accent explaining she was calling me from the World Wide Web.  She explained they had received error messages from my computer and wanted to have me give them access to the computer so they could correct.

When I asked "Specifically what error message did you receive and can you give me the IP address for me to verify" she stumbled and then continued with her script and ignored my question.  I explained if she did not have the level of expertise in excess of my own, she would NOT be remoting in to ANY of my computers.  I asked her to remove my # from the list...not confident that will occur.
