I got the same call, from the Treasury Department with an urgent matter that could involve a grand jury action, and the man's name is Steve Martin....that was the name of the reporter in the original "Godzilla" in 1954.....guess he got out of the newspaper business.
Received a message from "Steve Martin" to call this number back. I decided to call, and a lady with an accent answered as Internal Revenue Service. I played along and got hysterical saying that I was in trouble and they had finally caught up with me, so I should just end my life, then screamed and hung up. I hate what these scammers are doing! Can't something more be done? I thought it was fraud to represent yourself as a government agency or official from the agency.
It's a SCAM. Never give out your address, your social security number, your credit card, etc. Simply HANG UP. Just HANG UP. or.... better..... I think you can press a button on your phone pad and just hold it in. I think the noise or something does something to their recording (that's how they called me... just a recording and I am to 'call them back') and will get you off their bogus calling list.
Got the same call today from Steve Martin with a foreign accent and very bad English saying he was from the US Treasury and we were in big trouble with the Feds. If we didn't call back we would have to appear before a Magistrate or grand jury. SCAM!!
"Federal crime"....." 2nd attempt to call now considered a deliberate evasion to avoid an appearance before a Magistrate or Federal Judge"....same as all the other accounts of this call.....heavy accent and no answer when I attempted to call the number back....probably should not have even dialed the number back
